Privacy policy

No accounts, no sign-ups, no online play. What we keep is a name and a number so that a table is there when you arrive.

The short version

Four questions, answered plainly

Who holds my information?

WAFFLE ADVERTISING LTD, 85 Great Portland Street, London W1W 7LT, United Kingdom, which operates the venue at 9 Jonson Street, Byron Bay NSW 2481 and publishes this site.

What do you actually collect?

A name and a phone number when you book, the content of any email you send us, till and licence records the law requires, and a count of visits to these pages that is never tied to a person.

Is there a player account anywhere?

There is not. No sign-up, no balance, no saved history — the games only exist on the floor of the bay, so there is nothing online to store.

Which law applies?

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles made under it.

How long

What we keep, and until when

  1. Booking name and number: twelve months from the date, then deleted.
  2. Email threads: a year after the last message in them.
  3. Till, tax and liquor licence records: seven years, because that is the legal minimum.
  4. Website visit counts: thirteen months, in aggregate, with no profiling of anybody.
Your rights

What you can ask us to do

  1. Show you everything held under your name.
  2. Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
  3. Delete what we have no lawful reason to keep.
  4. Explain, in plain terms, why we hold something you did not expect.
  5. And if we handle it badly, complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Sharing

Who else ever sees it

  1. Our web host, which stores these pages and nothing about you personally.
  2. Our accountant, for the financial records, under a confidentiality obligation.
  3. Nobody else. Nothing is sold, rented, traded or given to advertisers, at any price.
